AsterMind
Network Measurement Research

Why did I receive a probe from this address?

This IP address is part of a benign, read-only internet-measurement study run by AsterMind to build a first-party, license-clean IP geolocation database from measured network round-trip times. We send a very small number of standard, low-rate probes — an ICMP echo (ping) and, only if that gets no reply, a single TCP connection attempt to port 443. We send no payloads, run no port scans, and never attempt to access, log in to, or exploit anything. We measure only how long a reply takes.

Opt out: email abuse@astermind.ai with the IP prefix(es) you want excluded (e.g. 203.0.113.0/24) and we will add them to our permanent do-not-probe blocklist, honored before every run.

What we collect

Only public network timing (round-trip latency) to a single representative address per routed /24 block. No personal data, no packet contents, no customer data.

How to identify our traffic

Our probes are rate-limited and originate from a small, fixed set of cloud regions. If you believe a probe caused any disruption, contact abuse@astermind.ai and we will investigate and exclude you immediately.

Standards

This study follows accepted internet-measurement-research norms — minimal, transparent, rate-limited, and opt-out-respecting. We're happy to answer any questions.
